Counterintuitive

Matthew 11:25 says, “At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. ²⁶Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.”

Observation: There were a lot of really “smart” leaders of the religious faith. Many people knew the law and rules of the faith. But Jesus, being the counterintuitive teacher that he was taught that if your attitude is like a child’s faith, you will learn who God truly is.

Application: There are times when I feel that my knowledge of who God is becomes enough for me to feel righteous. This is the wrong attitude. Attitude is so very important when it comes to our walk with God. He always looks on the inside. He desires people who truly love him. I always think of my kids when I hear Jesus teaching on the faith of a child. My kids know I love them, and that I will do everything in my power to protect them and care for them. They have total faith in me. That is what Jesus was talking about…that total dependency upon God and his strength in us.

Prayer: Again, I ask that you make me like a child, a heart that loves you with all my being.
