Not Fair!

Deuteronomy 3:26 says, “But because of you the LORD was angry with me and would not listen to me. “That is enough,” the LORD said. “Do not speak to me anymore about this matter. 27 Go up to the top of Pisgah and look west and north and south and east. Look at the land with your own eyes, since you are not going to cross this Jordan. 28 But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see.” 29 So we stayed in the valley near Beth Peor.”

Observation: Moses was essentially begging God to let him enter the Promised Land. Moses had disobeyed God by striking the rock instead of speaking to the rock (speaking to the rock may have required more faith) so God banished Moses from entering the Promised Land.

Application: NOT FAIR. That seems a little harsh to me. But God’s ways are certainly not our ways. You would think God would have forgiven Moses of this one little sin. Well, he may have forgiven him but there was still consequence for his actions. Big consequences. This sounds familiar in my own life. Decisions I make in the past can be consequential in my future.

Prayer: Let me make WISE choices!
